Dithering (grayscale)

pagesender supports dithering (sometimes known as grayscaling) faxes by default. Dithering makes faxing graphics and photos look good.

Explanation: Faxes have only one color per pixel (black or white). Most documents created on a computer have at least 256 colors or shades of gray per pixel, sometimes millions. Dithering is the process where an image with a larger palette of colors is reduced to black and white by distributing the error involved in the conversion among neighboring pixels.

Dithering is turned on when the button looks like this: Dithering on (grayscale) image
Dithering can make sharp edges look jagged, so pagesender allows you to turn off dithering by pressing the button so that it looks like this: Black and white button

If you are faxing only text and wish it to be as sharp as possible, ensure that dithering is off. If you are faxing documents with graphics or photos, ensure that dithering is on.

Add Addresses from Text Files

pagesender supports adding addresses from a text file. Drag & drop your text file into the address list in the Print dialog, and your addresses will be added. Each line should be either 3 or 4 columns and each entry on the line should be separated by commas or spaces. The columns are: name, company, number, and optionally country code. Styles can be mixed within a single file. Here are examples of valid lines:
